Area Technical Sales Representative

£25,000pa Basic + Commission OTE £35,000

Locations: Birmingham, Cambridge, Exeter, Glasgow (Central Belt), Leeds, London,

The role includes:

  • Organising and running daily demonstration days at trade fayres and at customer branches across your area
  • Making regular visits to distributors within your area and building lasting, mutually beneficial relationships between OSC and them.
  • Seeking out new end users through your existing trade contacts as well as new contacts from demonstration days and sales office leads, using your trade knowledge to encourage end users to try our own brand products and finding supply paths for them through our distributor network.
  • Finding and developing new partnerships with distributors in your area.
  • Reacting to customer requirements and ensuring orders are dealt with in a timely manner.
  • Using sales data to identify opportunities and reacting to these.
  • Working with our dedicated sales office team in Kent, providing information back to base on new leads and opportunities.
  • Taking ownership of all responsibilities and seeing them through to their conclusion in an ordered and detailed fashion.
  • Providing regular, accurate and detailed (daily, weekly and monthly) reports to the Director and Commercial Manger regarding all your business activities and insights.
  • Attending mandatory sales meetings in person at our Kent Head Office at least once a month as well as regular virtual meetings each week.
  • Assisting other members of the team where necessary in their own areas covering holidays and providing additional support at larger demonstrations.

 

To work with us you will:

  • Have a sound knowledge of the timber or electrical industry (or both) preferably through first-hand experience.
  • Have the drive and motivation to be proactive during the day taking and making telephone calls, visiting existing and prospective customers and constantly searching for new ways to interact with our trade-based customer base.
  • Be confident engaging with tradesman and demonstrating why our products will save them time.
  • Be able to confidently interact with our end users and distributors answering technical questions and guiding customers to the right products for their applications.
  • Be willing to pitch-in at any level of the business to offer support wherever it is required.
  • Be detail-orientated and process driven with a desire to constantly improve the system and environment in which you work.
  • Be confident enough to challenge existing systems and processes and offer suggestions on more efficient ways of working.
  • Show evidence of working successfully and proactively in an autonomous role.
  • Be confident with computer systems and have a working knowledge of basic Microsoft Windows based products as well as CRM/CMS tools (training provided on our software).
  • Be reliable and trustworthy with an honest and positive attitude.
  • Hold a current full UK driving licence.

 

Specifics:

  • Our office hours are Monday to Friday 07:30-16:30, you will be expected to use this as your core structure but remain flexible due to the nature of the role.

Technical Sales and Product Support (Office-based)

From £20,000pa to £30,000pa dependent on experience

Location: Linton, Kent

The role includes:

  • Advising end users on the correct choice of products for their applications.
  • Maintaining and improving relationships with existing customers and forging new partnerships with distributors around the UK.
  • Using your trades knowledge to encourage end users to try our own brand products and finding supply paths for them through our distributor network.
  • Taking orders by phone, fax and email and processing them through to completion using our computer systems.
  • Using sales data to identify opportunities and reacting to these.
  • Supporting our area based brand representatives throughout the country, helping them to arrange regular product demonstration days in their areas and generate visitors to these events as well as following up on leads and reacting to information fed back to the office from distributor visits.
  • Assisting in the day-to-day running of a busy sales office environment.
  • Taking ownership of all responsibilities and seeing them through to their conclusion in an ordered and detailed fashion.
  • Liaising with the management team regarding any of the above requirements.
